  • The cats and I have an ongoing game. They're starving and ask for food, and I refuse to feed them enough. (This, of course, is their interpretation of the game. My interpretation is, they are constantly pestering me for food, and I refuse to overfeed them.)

    When I don't feed them enough, they climb up on a shelf in my kitchen and eat pineapple leaves. It's like a Pavlovian response. They don't get what they want, they chew on my pineapple.

    And we play this game, day after day, none of us getting tired of it.

    (Actually, that's not true. I get very tired of it. But at least they're not eating a part of the pineapple that I value.)
