  • Weekend off

No, not from the exercise. Just decided to take a couple days away from the keyboard to give my eyes and fingers a break. Nothing to worry about.

Saturday's ab day went wonderfully, Got the brisk walk with Olivia, the five mile ride, the morning 50's and the 400 ab reps all by 9 am and that was with sleeping in about an hour. Hey, it's the weekend, right?

Sunday was my off day, and I had a good one. I think even Olivia the Shih Tzu was happy to lie around instead of keeping those short little legs pumping to stay up with me. Read the paper, did the crosswords, watched a movie or two from my collection, and basically spent the day relaxing. I highly recommend it, you get to appreciate all that hard work you do during the week.

Today, ... back on schedule. Brisk five block walk with Olivia's tail wagging the entire time, five mile bicycle ride around Glen Oak Park, 50 squats, 50 bend overs, and 50 pushups all down under the pergola today. Stepped back into the house and set up the bench for Chest and Back day.

Still working with 100 pounds on the bench press and 100 pounds on the extension. I upped the dumbbells to 35 pounds (up 5 pounds) for the inclined dumbbell presses at the end of the workout.

Started with a flat bench and pumped out 3 sets of 10 reps bench press at a slow count and middle grip. Sat up and grabbed the vertical close v-handle and performed 3 sets of 10 reps of seated back rows.

Inclined the bench to 30° and performed inclined bench press (3 sets of 10 reps) then changed the handle on the extension and did another 3 sets of seated back rows with the horizontal close grip.

Finally, I moved the bench up to 60° and grabbed the dumbbells to perform 3 sets of 10 reps of inclined dumbbell presses. I felt the extra five pounds, but will go up to 40 next week. Changed the handle again on the extension to the bicycle bar and did a final three sets of seated back rows.

Now for anyone thinking to themselves, “Why did he do 9 sets of the same exercise?”, I didn't. Changing the handle changes the angle your back muscles have to work at, which means it changes the exercise.

I do love chest and back day, but then again I love all my workouts. Don't you love yours? If you haven't gotten to that point yet, let me remind you, you will.

I hope you are having a blessed and glorious day.
