  • I loved reading Choose Your Own Adventure books when I was a kid. Every 10 pages or so, being rewarded with the choice of 2 different paths, leading you to a huge combination of narratives. I loved the thrill of unexpected twists and turns, all a result of my own choice and intuition. These books seemed like some kind of magic to me.

I'd really like my life to be a Choose Your Own Adventure right now. Having come to a dead-end, I can choose to take a path back towards the familiar, known world of Brisbane - suburban life, boredom, safety and predictability - or I can choose a new, scary, unfamiliar path - packing my little family up for some country/coastal town and seeing where it leads us.

I think you can guess which path I'm going to choose.

In the books, if you decided the choice you'd made was unsatisfactory, you could always go back 10 pages and choose again. Maybe life is like that too?

    I can always choose again.
