  • When I think, I think about the places I've been, the areas of inspiration. Cliché as it sounds - this city inspires me on a daily basis.

I've had a recent bout of "no more" from many friends - people who cannot find joy in the city anymore, who have been beaten down by its relentlessness, the ever demanding hustle. I feel the same sometimes - the never-ending tug-of-war with the demands of this city, the rumble above and below, the energy that tirelessly sweeps through the streets, indiscriminate of whom it bowls over.

A friend is deciding to leave, after 11 years here and I wanted to have her leave with a memory of the city that isn't all about its beat-down. I brought her to the rooftop that shows the oasis that the city can be - the balm for the soul, the escape that so many come to escape to.

Sometimes, it's all it takes to remind one that just because you decide to leave, doesn't mean that you cannot come back.
