  • Summer and I have a complicated relationship.

On the one hand, I look forward to the light-filled evenings, eating on terraces, splinter-iced drinks, downtime and high-time, nighttime and sunshine. Midsummer Madness also happens to be my birthday.

And yet, each year, summer leaves me dissatisfied, unhappy, expectations unfulfilled. Have I set those expectations too high? Is the summer too short?

Or is there more satisfaction in overcoming the dull depths of winter?

But each year, amnesia sets in about June time.

Welcome, Summer, old friend, come in, sit down, converse...
