  • Has the day invaded the night, or has the night invaded the day?* Does it matter which way the story goes, which way the wind blows, which one of us chooses to ask the other 'have you missed me' instead of admitting 'I have missed you'?

Are we afraid of the power of our words, then?

Have I shattered your confidence, or have you perforated my vulnerability? Does it matter which one of us is hiding behind our words, which one of us unintentionally hurts the other more, which one of us chooses to say 'you are so sexy' instead of risking 'I love the way you make me feel'?

Are we afraid of the power of our emotions, then?

Have I mislaid my veil of protection again, or have you ripped it off? Does it matter what we choose to hide, or to show, what we give out, or hold back, whether we choose the label 'that is none of your business' or 'I am not ready to share that with you'?

What are we most afraid of, the other's jocularity or our own sincerity, or vice versa? What is more terrifying, the naked 'I need you' or the daring 'do you want me?' What matters more, the security of restraint or the courage to say 'I am here for you'?
