  • I just finished a challenge given by my buddy Brett Chamberlin. It was called: "Buy nothing for a week" where I was not allowed to spend any money during 7 days. However, before beginning the challenge, I was permitted to stock up on food for the week, load my subway pass, etc. Before I started the challenge three more friends decided to be part of it. From Bogota, to New Hampshire, to California, to NYC, there were 4 of us that voluntarily decided to be part of this moneyless adventure.

For seven days we didn't spent any money at all. From my end, I ate more healthy than usual, attended great events by generosity of strangers, and made new friends. I believe all our credit cards and bank accounts are just walls between authentic human interaction. I think this challenge helps break it down a little bit more... somehow democratizes your social life!

I took the challenge because I wanted to be uncomfortable as well as to learn know how does it feels to don't have any money for a week. This simple challenge taught me a lot and I hope to continue doing it at least once every two months or so....
