  • So many loves of different kinds, some stronger than others, here are some Firsts:

my parents and sister, our family
doggie loves.. first pepper, a black collie and my sister's cinnamon when we were in high school, and now, sweetie pugs carlos & tonto
boys.. i think the first was when i was five, my neighbor in new jersey chris ebert, our nicknames for each other were doowah and whattawhat : ) i can't remember if i was doowah or whattawhat, i almost think we just always said them together. i wonder where he is now?
heroes.. wonderwoman and the incredible hulk
things to do.. drawing and reading, i was obsessed with both as a kid, entertained myself endlessly, i feel sad that children today don't seem to do that as much, they are instead entertained by screens

food.... i think my first food love i remember is carvel ice cream cake, it tasted like magic, the frosting and the ice cream, how could it be so good? icecreamcake. genius.
things to wear.. my mom made my clothes when i was little, i had this awesome pantsuit when i was four, it was red & white polyester giraffes, white giraffes on red background, wish i could have an adult version!
places.. we lived on a sailboat when i was really little i remember feeling very safe and loved on that little twin-keeled boat
music.. i had this creamsicle-colored 8 track player, a kid in the 70's, i remember the alvin & the chipmunks singing christmas songs lovingly, and the carpenters, and that song 'i never promised you a rose garden' from the radio
friends.. first loved friend.. i think that would also go to chris ebert mentioned above

the first loves, the loves of childhood are innocent, we can be innocent as adults too right?

the loves build new loves and they then grow bigger, new loves all of the time. i am in love with this rainy day on the sofa with my doggie who is smiling and hugging my arm. glad to be inside, feeding my ears with music and my eyes with books. and reading these lovely stories here now and later tonight i will likely rally to party once more for it's carnival season here in new orleans, which i also newly love.

some loves are scary to try at first and some are gentle and warm immediately, all of these mini and massive loves forming who we are. life is love, love equals hope. the hope that we all truly live, to love our lives.
