I am mesmerized. Hope you are too, all you cowbirders! Paste this into your browser and watch two eagles with their emerging
brood. Two have already hatched, they say. I've seen one so far.

There goes the rest of my day! :)

LATER: I saw both hatched ones getting fed! Daddy hunts and brings fish and ? to the nest. He "sits" while mama eats some, then she gets back on the nest and later feeds the chicks who are hollering for tidbits. One seems more mature than the other.

Now it's night.. 4:15 pm here in Seattle... 7:15 pm in Pittsburgh, PA

It's a marvel. I'll tune in tomorrow morning and they'll be up again.

TUESDAY.. Mama Eagle was showing her smartest eaglet where the food comes from today! She brought the chunk of fish over and the fuzzy little one watched her peck out a mouthful and eat it. Then she pecked another one..and ate it. Little fuzzy wondered why it wasn't getting some. Finally Mama gave him some. He watched again, and seemed to be very much interested in going directly to the source. He may have tried it, but Mama was now feeding the littler sibling and the older one as well...pretty nice fish to beak service!

Tonight it seems to be raining. Lots of hunkering down and covering heads and everything with wings. It's 71 degrees F in Pittsburgh tonight at nine pm.

There is night vision camera watching... very interesting to watch it all in "negative" format.

WEDNESDAY No hatching yet. It's raining in Pittsburgh and in the 40's. The eaglets are getting fluffier, and learning to sit up for feeding.
They get up on their haunches and "beg", sort of. The littler one is getting more up in the front about eating, and is looking strong.
Mama and papa shared some fresh fish early today.

A FEW HOURS LATER: Daddy is putting an addition on the nest! He came with a nice fish for the family, and then came back with a bare branch.
He and Mama worried that branch between them , with mama protecting the babies from getting twigged, and then papa inserted the branch into the backside of the nest. The little ones will get big, he knows, and the nest will have to be expanded to accomodate the twins, and maybe the triplets, if that egg hatches!

THE LITTLE BALD EAGLE HAS HATCHED! Now there are three. As scheduled, the eaglet hatched while I wasn't looking last night!
Now I am seeing a nest full of four and am waiting for papa to bring a nice fish. So is mama! Bring home the bacon, Papa!
