  • Forty-one years ago a man named Leonard Knight had a vision.

In his vision a hot air balloon would carry a message to the word that GOD IS LOVE.

After many, many, years of constructing his vision out of scraps from the dumpsters of balloon manufacturers, and after attempting to inflate the balloon with a giant homemade stove called "the apparatus," the balloon would not fly.

In the shadow of that apparent failure Leonard prayed to God and asked what he should do. God told him to build a mountain.

This is part 1 in a series that tells the story of Leonard Knight and Salvation Mountain.
