  • Kerstin Andersson Museum Store is where you can get books about Sweden journeys, taste test some Swedish cookies with lingonberry jam, and can even buy a handcrafted Dala Horse which is shipped from Sweden along with a majority of their merchandise. Melissa Weems is the manger and she is full of knowledge when it comes to the Swedish heritage and where to go around the Andersonville neighborhood for great food along with baked goods. Melissa knows lots when it comes to asking about Sweden, she told me about the journey Swedes had when coming to the United States and living in Andersonville. When I was there in the store I was able to taste the candies that the Swedes eat when in Sweden there was a liquorish candy that was actually filled with salt and Melissa forgot to mention this but we had a great laugh. While in the store getting to know about the Dala Horses is something Melissa spoke about and I found the most interesting, “the Dala Horeses are actually made from left over wood from furniture and are shipped to Chicago from Sweden,” said Melissa. There are many books as well about Sweden journeys along with many small novelties for people to take back with them home knwoning they are actually from Sweden is what makes them really great to have. Melissa also mentioned after exploring the store and seeing what it has to offer from Sweden you can tour the Swedish American Museum as well.
