  • Is January over already?

Wow, has this month ever flown by. New Year's eve was just the other night, wasn't it?

I was up earlier, managed about 3 hours sleep after spending an hour on my heating and massage pad. Took my car to the dealership at 7:30, got out of there about 2 hours later. Came to the house and decided to do some high cleaning on the kitchen cabinets. Worked on that until noon, got the first section done, and plan to finish cleaning and treating the cabinets tomorrow.

Yesterday was a fairly high calorie day, so I'm keeping them down today. Cherrios for breakfast, a small bag of salted peanuts for a snack, a can of spinach w/ a cheese snack for lunch, and my home made beef stew for dinner.

Started my usual aerobic routine at 1:30 and completed 15 minutes on the Gazelle. The lack of sleep is beginning to hit home, so I'll probably take a nap after I finish today's entry. I know my body is saying it could use the rest.

But I wanted to post this today to let you know the secret of great abs. Are you ready? It's really so simple.

All the while you are exercising your abs, Concentrate On Your Abs and Nothing Else. Start every motion with your abs tight and keep them tight throughout the sets. Keep them tight between sets. Keep them tight while you're doing your aerobics. On a day when you're doing your abs, Keep Them Tight.

Now if you're a beginner, And you're doing this right, you WILL experience cramps in your ab muscles. They are not pleasant, they are not fun, and you will not want to remember them. Fortunately, they won't last very long, and after a couple days, you won't get them anymore. Fortunately, they do pass.

Not trying to dissuade you from exercising, but I am a full disclosure kind of guy. I find that, like most things in life, forewarned is forearmed. So if you know they're coming, you can prepare to deal with them.

By the way, when they do come, there's only one solution. Stand up straight and walk them off. Easier said than done, I assure you. They last about 10 minutes, and when they occur, it's time to stop working your abs for the day. Instead, go straight to your aerobic exercise, and try to keep your abs tight. It's the only way to get past them, folks.

So now that I've given you that ray of sunshine for the day, I think I'll go try to get some sleep. At least for an hour or two.

Hope you are having a blessed and wonderful day.

    Fred
