  • The clock approaches midnight in the South Shore town where she sleeps curled up in a white crib under pink and aqua blankets. Her soft cheeks no longer show the signs of addiction, danger and abandonment. Youth is on her side and God willing, she will have no memories of the events that led her to this day. I pray that the efforts of the good folks, who have been called to shelter and protect her from the fallout, will prevail.

You see, when you’re 14 months old and a ward of the state, your path depends on the court's decision. Imagine your voice so small at such a junction?

The blueprint to Natalie’s future will come down to one life changing moment on January 29, 2014. And she doesn't even know it. Right now she is sound asleep.

I just feel it needs be said. Her name, her story and her big moment deserves to be written in a place more intimate than a court document. I want you to know that while we go about our day to day business tomorrow, January 29, 2014, a life will change. Not just anyone’s life… Natalie’s life.

    For Natalie and my brother.

With all my love, prayers and tears,
