  • I have made it a matter of pride not to celebrate Valentine's Day. I don't believe in it. I think it's a giant corporate scam forcing us spend money to tell people we love, that yes, we are following the rules and yes, on this day we love them.

I can't get over it. For the sake of relationship bliss, I've tried. When I got married, I tried. I even went to the store, but all the red and candies and cherubs made my stomach turn. As a parent, I tried. Even with the two-year old love of my life at heart, no luck. It's just written into my DNA.

This does not make me a cold person, I swear. I love my wife, I love my family more than anything.

I have a tradition which has been in practice for about 10 years now. I treat some random day during the year like it's Valentine's Day. I get a small gift, we go to dinner, flowers may or may not be involved. So today, Valentine's day, I am cold fish. But my intentions are good. I promise.
