A Call to Doves
You hoist the two nestled in your wings,
guiding them down a path paved in love,
strewn with promise,
rooted in devotion.
They lift their tender eyes to the heavens
and recite their giddy pledges,
swill stout prayers with swollen hearts,
and bow their lovely heads at the altar
to embrace the blessings of holy water.
your wings stroking the air with only a murmur,
and scatter the pledges over them,
like rice raining,
the vows sealed-up in sweet vespers
in a faith scrolled by God.
And the two emerge
for all days.
