  • Here we were on some monastery rooftop in Dharamsala. All kids. Me, a little older and definitely American ... them, a little more monkish and apparently Mongolian. Visiting their Tibetan brothers.

    I spoke about 20 words of Tibetan. Which served mostly to make them laugh. Which was fair, because their English worked just about the same for me!

    Somehow, we all spoke just enough Russian to figure out what we were talking about.
