  • We say here that if you wish 'A Happy New Year' after January 6th you have to give a bottle of vodka to the other person. Well, I feel pretty safe with all of you being so far away ;), so I want to wish you a Happy New Year! Good wishes are always welcome and I wish that this year is going to be wonderful, filled with laughter, joy and happiness.

I have been neglecting Cowbird and today I realized why. I am really influenced by the environment. I knew that before but it has become very obvious this winter. We haven't had it! Just the two weeks of snow at the beginning of December and from there on - continuous rain, fog, grey skies....Just downright terrible! The warmest winter since the sixties. In some places the spring flowers bloom in the forest and in Finland a duck made a nest and started laying eggs. Come on now! With longing we followed the news on TV about the cold in the States and I said we should move to the northern parts of Canada or the North Pole.

But this Friday it finally came - winter I mean. Temperatures started falling and by today it is minus 8 already! It feels heavenly! We are weird, I know. And the temperature just keeps falling, which is the best news since November.

Small things that make us happy.

    (Even the horses are happy.)
