    I tap danced across the blank page
    to entertain you.
    I dug my heels so deep
    pain shot through my shins.
    I drummed the taps with a rhythm
    so loud
    you covered your ears.
    The balls of my feet screamed.
    I lunged, leaped, twirled, and twisted
    clicking my heels at every turn.
    Only I clicked them so hard
    the metal plates
    shattered.
    The pieces
    shot up to the light
    and rained silvery chinks.
    I danced until
    my breathing became short;
    my chest heaved,
    my head light,
    sweat spattered the walls.
    Gasping for air
    I crashed
    knowing that the page was
    full;
    that I had entertained you
    as well as an entire troupe.

    You clapped so hard
    fireworks exploded
    from your hands;
    noise makers popped
    from your mouth.
    Your eyes cried confetti.

    Then it was your turn
    to entertain me.

    You sauntered over the starkness...
    you bowed... you exited.
