  • Lisa Sturz is one of my dearest old friends. Within the last few years she got divorced, got cancer and beat it, and met and married the love of her life.

    Theirs is true love.

She got her diagnosis within days of their engagement. Mark Blessington, her future husband stood by her fighting for her life. They journaled their experience on the Caring Bridge site, and shared with us their daily challenges, pain, questions and fears, but most importantly the evolution and growth of their love for each other through some pretty heavy stuff.

It took a great man to get this amazing woman through to the other side.

And Lisa is amazing: a friend always there for those in need, a gifted artist, puppeteer, and mother of two awesome kids. Her life of always giving to others earned her enough great karma for a second chance against all odds.

Every picture tells a story. This portrait is based on a photo I took of her in the midst of her chemo treatments.

What humbles me that even fighting her life and death battle, she still gives to others.

You see it in her warmth and inner light, and the love shining through her eyes.
