  • If I could take it back, all that time, then I would. I would have ended it at coffee. I would have finished my latte, and you would have finished your red eye. And I would have pushed open the cafe door and walked out into the cold. And I wouldn't have looked back to see which way you went.

    And if we had done that, we wouldn't have let coffee turn into dinner turn into the night turn into the day turn into three years later when we realize that we just have to start over, anyway.
