  • Why doesn’t it work that if you want something, it wants you back? In a fair world, it would work like that. Instead, there’s the check list: Not handsome enough, not smart enough, too tall, too short, too strong, too weak, too poor, too eager, too nice, too not nice, too too boo hoo. Oh! this hard life, with its “lessons”. We bludgeon ourselves, ignoring what is best and yearning for what will destroy and doing it anyway. Again and again. Bang on the wall bang on the wall bang on the wall.

    Yep, that’s the way we foolish humans pull our bows. Rendering tears and tears, tears and tears. Why do we persist in the unrequited and all the blue days that accompany and all the resulting armor growing stoutly around our hearts and all the liquid from our eyes? What beckons us, breathlessly hopeful, filed with expectation, into the arms of rejection?
    Are we so naïve? Or so courageous?
