  • If this story had a soundtrack, it would be with no doubt The Killers' song "This is the world that we live in".

I spent most of the afternoon walking around the antique shops, candy stores and textil boutiques from the Souq Waqif - Doha's souk, in Qatar.

Over the corner, a group of six or eight girls passed me by.

Dressed up with the traditional "daffa", they were taking pics from themselves with their blackberries, laughing out loud all the time.

Suddenly, they saw me and smiled at me.

    I smiled at them, too.

    - "Hola, where are you from?"

One of the girls told me they were from Bahrein: "We are spending the weekend in Doha, making some tourism. Bahrein ... Formula 1!!"

I nodded while wondering the fact that until that moment, I had never thought about Formula 1 from this point of view.

    - "And you, where are you from?" Asked me the girl with the beautiful henna hands.
    - "I'm from Spain...."
    - "Ou, Spain, Spain, yes, yes... Barcelona!!"

(Barcelona, paella, vamos a la playa, flamenco, jamón and olé... Yes, that's us)

    - "May I ask you to take a picture of you all?"

They came all together, laughing out loud and happy about their moment of glory. I shooted a couple of times, said thank you to them and wished them a nice weekend in Doha.

Short before leaving, the girl that had been talking to me most of the time shouted to me:

    - "Don't facebook it!!"
