  • “When life gives you lemons…”

Who made this up? Why is it assumed that lemons are bad? My daughter eats lemons like it was candy. I enjoy lemon juice on fish and salads but not straight!

Lemons are analogous to setbacks in life, maybe because they are sour or tart? I have experienced many lemon moments in my life, always getting through but it’s still sour. The rest of the phrase says, “make lemonade”…Well good lemonade needs water and some sugar, where do those ingredients come from? For me in my life it has come from the love and support I receive from my wife, family and trusted friends. They are the sweetener to the sourness of life. They can take the tartness out of a job rejection, work problems, health issues and such. When life gives you “lemons” look for the sweetness that comes from family and friends, don’t cringe and pucker in a corner, seek out the other ingredients needed to make sweet lemonade out of sour situations. Lemons will come, it’s what we do with them that matters. Turn those sour situations into something good, grow from it , learn from it. I’m turning into a pretty good lemonade maker, how’s your lemonade?
