  • Stepping it Up (and Down)

I did my second day of the therapy exercises I posted on Tuesday, and I have to tell you with a little dedication, I could turn them into a full scale workout. Adding 23 movements at an average of 10-15 repetitions is no joke, and can certainly leave you perspiring by the time you are done. It did me.

Completed my regular ab routine, V-Ups, Bicycles, and Situps, and went to the Gazelle for a nice brick 30 minute march (hup...2...3...4) while listening to Chris Botti. Like I said earlier, I'm letting my MP3 player cycle through in order. Should be coming up to Tony Bennett pretty soon.

You know, once in a while I think to myself “But Fred (that's what I call myself, Fred), why are you really doing this?”, but then I look at myself in the mirror, or go out to work on a project in the garage, and I realize how better I feel about myself, and how much more energy I have these days. There's nothing in the world better than waking up looking forward to doing things without limitations.

I'm even more comfortable sitting at this computer right now, typing this post. My back is straight, my neck is in the correct position, and I feel like I can do about anything I want to. You never know, I just might head up to Galena later this year when the snow is falling and see if I can still slide down a mountain on a snowboard.

And while I'm not really looking forward to it, I'm ready to shovel snow in the mornings. It's a fact of life in Illinois, and one I used to dread. Not any more.

What about the disc? Hey, one way or another, it will be fixed within the year. If the chiropractic approach doesn't work, I'll talk to a back doctor about microsurgery to repair it. If my dad could handle it at 81, I don't think there will be a problem at 61.

Speaking of dad, he is still exercising daily and active as ever. Am I luck to have good genes on my side or what?

More traction tomorrow, along with the bi weekly trip to the grocery store and the first Chest and Back Day along with abs and Gazelle. I'm looking forward to seeing how well I do.

I hope you are all having a blessed and glorious day.
