  • Our pastor was talking about the roles of husbands and wives; husbands as leaders and lovers and wives as helpmates (and lovers, too).

I couldn’t help but think about this quote about love that goes along like:

Love someone when you love yourself because it manifests to the other person; love should not act as a compensation for your lack of self-love

    and also

this quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald: "And in the end, we were all just humans...drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness." by

I agree. I have not been in a romantic relationship yet and, I’m not going to lie, I get jealous from time to time whenever I see couples around being all lovey-dovey. But I do not know whether I want to be in a relationship or just the idea of it. I’m not sure whether I’m actually ready to be in one. Which brings me to my low self-esteem. Before, I think about having a boyfriend as someone to complete you and to mend the emotional cracks you have. But love is where two people complement one another and not compensate for the self-hatred one is feeling.

Of course, you might say that S.O. also has the capacity to change your perception; to help you change (hopefully for the better).

So, I guess arguments regarding the concept of love is divided.
