  • Every few weeks or so my mum would call our grandma.
    I was handed the phone and her first question was
    “Any boy courting you yet?”
    "No lola. No boy so don't worry," I replied grinning kinda taken aback by the in-your-face question.
    "Why not?! You're pretty." I was thinking "Of course you think that, you're my grandma."
    "I don't know. No one's interested?"
    "Oh, okay. It's just that 3 guys have asked me out." I cracked up laughing with, to be honest, a slight tinge of jealousy.
    "Did you say yes?"
    "Yes. I said yes to all of 'em. Nothing romantic, no. I just agreed because of the free meals."
    "Way to go lola!"
    Probably the most teenage-girl talk I've had with my grandma.
