  • Up on Bear Butte in South Dakota during the summer, it gets to be hot and humid. The water from the fountain was cool enough. We filled our bottles over and over while we waited at the base for Anthony to come back down from his hike. It was too hot for me to walk up the hill. My creaky knees couldn't make it up and back down the butte. But the buzzing of insects and the view from the covered benches was worth every drop of sweat.
