  • On a car boot sale near the sea, I found a talisman. It instantly caught my eye. It was an exact copy of the one my father had. It hung on our jute wallpapered wall, above a chestnut cabinet and under a round painting. It was for sale for one Euro (or fifty Euro cents, I don’t remember).

    Ever since it stands on my chimney, I’ve been fascinated by the orange string. It looks just too familiar. I can’t help but wonder…could it actually be the same talisman, that hung in our living room twenty four years ago? Maybe it is. Maybe it isn’t. But I like to believe it is. Nudge from Dad. A bit of luck from ‘the other side’, perhaps.
