  • The new Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, the 5th in the series, is being released. The first part, the Summary for Policymakers, is now available .

It's filled with chunky data from peer-reviewed and published scientific papers. Work done by trained specialists. People who know how to conduct and analyse experiments. Not charlatans and shills for the fossil fuel industries who delight in confusing and sowing discord with their distortions, lies, and conspiracy theories.

Apart from a greater confidence value, the gist of the report remains the same. The world is getting warmer and mankind is responsible for this change.

I find it incomprehensible that there are still, today, those who would deny these facts.

If my doctors told me with 95% certainty that I had cancer, I would seek treatment.

Sadly, though, with the best will in the world, changes are in place that it will take centuries to undo.

I wonder how future generations will judge us?

    Not, I suspect, well.
