  • Shawn Gourley is the wife of a Navy veteran who served in OEF/OIF. Upon her husbands return, the couple began to face severe symptoms of PTSD, but weren't aware of what it was exactly until down the road. Shawn studied, researched, and learned everything she could about PTSD and, with her husbands help, worked very hard to manage the situation at home and was very successful.

Mrs. Gourley realized that she & her husband must not be alone in their struggles and so she penned the book, "The War at Home: One Family's Fight Against PTSD", which was greatly received by both Veterans and families of Veterans.

She has been to Washington, D.C. to address the issue with our Government, appeared on TV, and continuously monitors & battles for needed attention on the issue, as well as founding & always staying involved with "Military with PTSD" on Facebook & the Web.

Shawn is a true warrior for the rights & needs of PTSD Veterans & their families, and I for one credit her efforts with keeping me alive in a moment of desperation. I am not alone in this by a long shot, either.

Both she and her husband are truly American Heroes!

Shawn Gourley is a Rare Life Award Nominee. Vote for her story here! http://www.eaglerarelife.com/content/shawn-j-gourley
