  • We were in your room around 11 pm.

    Some time passed. Silence.

We were in your nest, the little bundle of blankets and pillows under your lofted bed. You were next to me. My chin on your hair, the jawline meeting those dark strands.

Paralysis. More time passed, with my mind racing. Circular thoughts - you are my best friend, but these feelings remain! To break the silence with a kiss or with words?

Impossible question. And you answered it for me. For us. Our fear held us both back that night.

We talked until 6 am. I fell asleep in that same nest, and you in the bed above me.

Even 1 year later, I still think of that night. Of you.
