  • It's odd when you visit your favorite summer hot spot during the winter. It's desolate and orderly in its put-away-for-winter-ness. The colors seem muted, and it's way too quiet. If I shut my eyes real tight, I can hear the children playing at the water's edge, hear their mother's calling, "Don't go too far out!" and feel the wind chilling my wet skin. I can feel the sand creeping into my bathing suit as I sit on the beach, no towel as a barrier, a prelude to a crunchy ride home in the car. Summer. Seems like such a long time ago. Where have you gone? When are you coming back?
