  • sometimes it is so nauseating to watch the news
    the mealy mouth politicians slandering
the nobility of such words like

    justice. peace. freedom. human rights.

chemical weapons. they say. weapons of
mass destruction. they say. (again) Bright line
in the desert. they say. national interests.
    they say.

and the vertigo inside of me only spins
louder and louder the soundbites drum
the bile in my throat. To the point of retching.

    chemical weapons?

you mean the twenty million gallons of
agent orange that the US dumped
on Vietnam and its people who
now still bear the legacy of
    deformed children and still-births?

    chemical weapons?

you mean recently when the US army
    bombarded fallujah with white phosphorus
melting the flesh of women and children?

    chemical weapons?

you mean when the US aided Saddam
Hussein in the massacre of Kurdish
villagers in Iran with a cocktail of
    mustard gas and sarin?

    (Meanwhile: In Egypt. Our ally.
    The military coup. Slaughters
    protesters on the street.)
