  • I'm a 16-year-old student-athlete at Tarkington High School, and my dream is to launch a free football camp for 8-10 year-old at-risk kids this spring. My football camp, Camp S.T.R.I.V.E., is not only about football. It's basically a family. I want to impact these kids lives, and I want to stay connected. I want to be like a big brother to them, because I also had the hardships that they've been through, and I know what they've been through.

When I lost my father it was the hardest time for me. I didn't care about school, I wasn't the nicest kid, and I was always bullied. It was the hardest time in my life, because I didn't know who I was anymore. ... It's very hard to talk about sometimes, because, you know, just as these student-athletes that I want to serve through my camp feel like there's nobody there to listen to them and to be there for them, I also feel like that sometimes. But then I look at my supportive family, and I look at my mentors and these people around me who are opening doors that I would not have even known about if I had not gone to 4th and 1 Football Camp. It's really an opportunity when you've gone through such hard things and you go to one camp and you regain your self-confidence. You regain everything.

All I really want to do is show at-risk kids football and how to succeed in life. I really want to give kids the hope that someone's always going to be there for them, in their corner. That's why I'm starting my own football camp, Camp S.T.R.I.V.E., for 8-10 year-old kids.
