  • The fabric of my life reveals
A vast array of colors, swirled
    Lines and patterns diverse, converge
Some so very clear to see,
While others require a closer look

    Emerging from a focused view
Faces reveal from past, from now
    Some dominate the swirling scene
While others require a closer look
To see the picture in its full.

    Darkness mixes well with light
Reflecting how my life’s played out
A dark that once did bathe my soul
    In riches, non-sustaining beauty
That needed light to carry on

But light alone does not reveal
The fabric of my life’s long path
You need them both to see the whole
The lightness mixes well with dark
The Yin, the Yang, reveal my soul

    A helmet for the soldier/sailor
    Protector, fighter of other’s wars
Beneath which shows a double face
One strong and upright, one rests at peace
    Revealing the lesson, surrender, learnt
