  • We attended the renewal of vows and the official Catholic wedding of my daughter, Michelle and her husband, Felix Montesdeoca.

Seven years ago, Michelle and Felix were married here in Peoria in a simple ceremony at the Peoria County Courthouse. At the time, we didn't have time to prepare a large, formal wedding, which was Michelle's dream all along.

So this time, she planned a no-holds-barred wedding, complete with bridesmaids, flower girl, and a "Ring Bear" (Jayden, who will turn 3 next month, had to be convinced not to growl as he walked down the aisle).

Since the wedding was held on the JBAB (known to us old schoolers as Bolling AFB) in Washington, D.C., not every member of the groom's family could attend, but enough made it to make the wedding a complete success. Michelle's sisters were her bridesmaids, Felix's oldest and youngest brothers were two of the groomsmen, and Crystal's fiance Torrey filled out the party.

The reception followed at a lovely hall in the development where Felix and Michelle live.

It was a perfect wedding, a perfect vacation, and a perfect memory of my loving daughter and her wonderful family.

Damn, am I really this old?
