  • In Bertolt Brechts play "Life of Galileo", as Galileo Galilei at the threat of torture from the inquisition chooses to renounce his theory that earth revolves around the sun, Andrea Dori says to Galileo:
    - Unhappy the land that has no heroes,
    Galileo replies:
    - No. Unhappy the land where heroes are needed.

I saw the play at the independent theatre that is the only manifestation of fine arts in the suburb I live. These lines made a great impression.

The future of the theatre is uncertain, as the City Council cancelled the grant that kept it running. We were there for a support manifestation. The model with earth in the middle is a prop from ”Life of Galileo”.

A woman with the look of someone very interested in culture came by. She explained to him:
-This is a model of our planetary system. This is Earth, in the middle.

It’s not often, these days, that you come across someone who represents 16th century religious view of the world.
