  • Da tells a story of how he used to go to St. Peter's Italian Bazaar Festival in Portland Maine.

He talks about the first time that he saw "Pizza" in 1930 and the main attraction of the festival "the greasy poll"

There are many things I love about this story.

    1. I couldn't even imagine what it would have been like to comprehend eating pizza for the first time and having no idea what it is. I feel like kids now eat pizza even before they can recite the alphabet, much less tie their shoes.

    2. I love that you can hear Nana stirring her tea in the background at times.

    3. The year was 1930. I went on St. Peter's Italian Bazaar Festival's Facebook Page and found out that they still do the festival. It is going on from August 13th-14th this year and it will be the 86th year of its celebration. That means when Da saw pizza for the first time it was at the 3rd annual festival! Too cool.
