  • Sometimes I watch YouTube videos on my iPhone in bed - either before I fall asleep, or in the middle of the night, if I wake up.

Lately, one of my favorite videos has been this one of Deborah Kerr. You can find it if you search "deborah kerr gregory peck" on YouTube.

In this video - a scene from the 1959 film Beloved Infidel - Peck asks Kerr to dance. You witness their conversation as they move around the dance floor.

What I love is how Kerr uses her hands, and her eyes, and her breathing to tell the story of Peck's effect on her. There's one thing in particular that she does with her left hand right at the end of the dance. I've seen her do it in another movie, too. It's like she's pushing away a thought that she doesn't want to think.

    It speaks volumes.

I need a gesture like that in my life.
