  • As a young filmmaker, it is always exciting to be part of a project that is special and close to home and the heart. My family, and talented musicians, Scott and Juliana Clifford, from the band SCATTER THEIR OWN, have launched an Indiegogo Campaign to raise funds for a music video that I will directed.

The video is a passion project and a first major music video launch for their band. Juliana and myself are working hard to develop the project and make it something special. This project will be entirely shot on our reservation and will be a creative but deeply heartfelt message about water pollution.

As native artists, finding opportunities to create art is far and few in between, and finding funding for such art is mostly non-existent. Growing up on the reservation has shaped so much of who I am as an artist. Realizing that the only way to make dreams come true is to make the opportunity yourself. That is what we are doing. If we reach our goal amount, we can make a dream a reality. We can create opportunity not only for ourselves, but for others interested in filmmaking and creative arts.

This is a Native initiative to help ourselves and to no longer be victims, but creators and entrepreneur of our destiny. This whole project has been extremely inspirational to me as an artist and as a kid who grew up his whole life on the Pine Ridge Reservation. This is exactly what I want to do with my life, that is creating opportunity. This one project is only the beginning and we need all the help we can get.

We have a goal budget of $15,000. All of which has been budgeted down to ensure full use. We are using Indiegogo, a crowd-funding platform, to raise the funds. They of course take a percentage, thus if we reach our goal, we will receive $13,950 out of the $15,000. So I share this campaign here, in hopes that if finds you. Simply sharing means the world, but we are down to the wire with 12 days left since the posting of this story. Every dollar counts and you can be part of something pretty special to me. For that, I cannot thank you enough.
