  • During the first snow of the season we were walking through Crystal Palace Park on our way home from the pub. It was cold and late and the park was empty. On the map we saw The Maze, one of the largest of its kind in the U.K. I had never been in any maze, let alone a large one. We set off.

We crossed the fields of dark and snow. When we got to The Maze, a swirling circle of thick hedges, we stood still listening to falling snowflakes on dead leaves. For a while we felt lost. When we found our way out it was still snowing and time to celebrate both.
