  • I didn't really clock the difference in him until I had downloaded my photographs that day and was looking at them on the computer screen.

    It's true that I had been in Chinatown and that a lot of people there are quite short (and I'm not very tall myself), but looking at him towering above us all almost as big as the shop fronts I came to the certain, if slightly fanciful, conclusion that the man in the blue shirt was an enormous fairy tale giant walking in our midst... only none of us had been taking any notice.
