  • On June 29, 1963, Nancy James married Dale Sink in Williamstown, NJ. He was 22, a freshly minted graduate of Rutgers University. She was 19, a secretary in Philadelphia. They met at a dance.

They spent their honeymoon in Atlantic City, where a boardwalk artist made this pastel of them. For years it hung as part of a photo collage in our basement. Look at these serious young people, ready to greet their future.

There had never been any photos from their wedding-- something about the photographer's negatives being ruined. Then, about 10 years ago, this wedding photo surfaced. By then, they had almost forgotten they had ever been so young. Instead of the serious couple in the pastel, they were greeted by these goofy kids, full of joy.

On June 29, 2013, they celebrate 50 years of marriage. And we will join them to celebrate in Cape May, NJ, on July 7.

Congratulations, Nancy and Dale. You done good.
