  • To be ten again when the tough decision is which flavor of Dum Dum to enjoy next. No worries about a job and paying the bills. Or figuring out how to pay the bills. The possibilities life offers are endless, our confidence boundless.

A 10 year old girl with her ears just pierced worries about which earings to wear today – the Penguins or The Turtles? Or maybe the rainbow peace sign? A little homework causes stress but she has many friends to share her day with. The mean girls fading into the background. Nonsense, she thinks of their games

So which flavor? Today it was Savannah Blueberry. She asked me how many wrappers she’d saved.

    23 I guessed.
    More, she giggled.
    How many?
40! She fanned out her stack of carefully flattened and organized Dum Dum wrappers.

Apparently that’s how Savannah got her own flavor – saved enough wrappers and entered the contest.
To be 10 again. A special time we take for granted. Just before life gets complicated . . .
