  • I painted this image in acrylics on the back of an envelope which I will use to mail a traveling sketchbook to the next artist on the tour. The theme was dreams. I googled "dreams" and chose a "random" image to paint.

Only as I am sure Kiki, Connie and many other will tell you, there is no such thing as random in the human mind. Everything is connected to everything else. And we are connected to the world.
  • This image resonates for me in such a disturbing way, now that I have completed it, that it makes me cry, literally, to look at it. It is very disturbing, makes my heart hurt.
  • I don't know what other people see, but here is what I see: a woman who has given up her power to man. He is controlling her. She looks serene, but she has been taught to put on a good face for the world.
  • I spent much of my life under the power of abusive men and it still aches inside me. I am not very assertive. I have trouble saying, "Put me down and let me stand up on my own two feet and speak my mind."
  • So, how is this political?

Because government is controlled by big business. We are not free. Money makes crucial decisions that affect all of us, and we are hypnotized and doing nothing (or very little) to stop money and greed from destroying the earth and us.

I, locked in my personal drama, am as guilty as we all are.
