  • I'm kind of cheating with this one.

    I didn't take it, but when my friend sent it to me, I wanted to add it to the Occupy stories.

    This is Occupy Hong Kong, nicely sheltered from the elements on the ground floor of HSBC's headquarters. Why hasn't more noise been made about this? These guys have occupied a fucking bank! They are inside the system. They've been there since October and still going strong.

    Since I never visited, I'm not sure how they've managed to hold their ground when other centres of revolution - Oakland, London, Madrid - have wavered or fallen.

    I think it has to do with a certain restraint. Theirs is a game of patience and polite presence, not confrontation. The long game, perhaps.

    Look at the straight line the tents make. Very neat.

    Is that a dining table in the background? And a couple of bookcases?

    This is rebellion disguised as a summer fete or craft fayre. This is cunning.
