  • Lucy Mae.
She is more than a mentor. She is my grandmother and, if I can say, my friend.
She is tenacious with a quick wit, love for storytelling, and traveling.
Summer 2012 she had a stroke and she's been fighting ever since to regain her independence.
After all, this is a woman who taught herself how to drive after she got married as a young woman, raised two boys to adulthood after her husband passed away, and collected many stories from her travels.
She inspired me to travel to South Africa in college and, more importantly, she inspired me to have a relationship with God.
Anyone who knows her also knows her love for Jesus.
    Even telemarketers know.
On her voicemail, she proclaims, "Please leave a message and remember, Jesus is Lord."
    I love Lucy.
