  • I got into a summer program that centers around a trip to Uganda in order to research food scarcity.

Whenever I tell people about it, they tell me not to get raped or murdered.

That is why I'm going to Uganda.

We are so fiercely ignorant of other cultures, so stubbornly biased against those who do not fit our mold.

I want to experience the rhythm of Africa.
I want to know life where belongings don't come in sealed, sterilized packages.
I want to know what it's like to not be able to drink tap water in fear of getting sick.
I want to buy souvenirs from a market stall where no one speaks the same language as me.
I want to hear opinions that don't match my own.

I want to experience life outside of myself.
