  • Made "Beef Stew" with Grandma tonight.. I made sure to bring over all of my gear.

It seems that nobody really needs explaniation about what I am doing, why I am collecting stories, what the purpose of it all is.

They are ready to tell a story.

Grandma tells the story of meeting Grandpa (Red) for the first time. A jovial story of drunken carolers. One of her fond memories was about going to Joyland, an amusement park in Lexington KY that closed in 1965.

"Joyland" seemed like the perfect title for this piece.

Sometimes my whole life feels like "Joyland"
