  • You know when someone is looking at you: a sideways glance, an awkward stare, a shifty eye, or a sultry gaze... but when someone really looks at you? It's different.

You feel a jolt, a heart flutter, breathe caught in your throat, and time seems stands still - if only for a second. In that moment - they see beyond the stories, biography, habits and bullshit - you are exposed.

I remember this moment with Donal. I can recall it like a movie. He was sat across the table at a busy restaurant -not eating- talking about work. The conversation was discouraging and I offered an alternate encouraging view...

As I spoke his head slowly raised up, and he saw me, for the first time. We'd been on numerous dates but, this time, he was looking at me.

In that moment, my tectonic plates shifted.

    Love is like that.
